Visit to "Open Factory Gokanichi" in Iwate Prefecture

22/11/4

Tour: We visited various crafts made by local artisans. Many products using traditional techniques, such as ceramics, woodwork, and metalwork, were on display. It was a tour that allowed us to experience the "five senses" by listening to the artisans directly explain the production process, smelling the workshop, and touching the materials and tools, rather than just looking at the exhibits.

Cultural Heritage Tourism: There are many cultural heritage sites around Ichinoseki city, and by visiting these historical sites, participants were able to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural background from which the products originate.

Tasting local ingredients: I was able to enjoy cooking using local ingredients and experience Iwate's food culture firsthand, which deepened my understanding and interest in local ingredients.

Participants' impressions

The participants were impressed by the cultural richness of Ichinoseki, where local craftsmanship is linked to World Heritage sites, and were particularly impressed by the skill and passion of artisans in handmade crafts, which gave them a new appreciation for their value and significance.
